Trying to build a website

Several years ago I had a decent sized website on Geocities.  Then a dozen things happened and I closed it down but I still had all the pages saved on Netscape Composer.  When I opened this blog I also tried to open a website.  Notice the word tried.  Most of it worked except I cannot get my backgrounds to work.  I realize that technology has moved alone while I stood still but that still does not help me and I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what I am doing wrong.

If I use tripod's backgrounds all is relatively well.  But, I cannot access mine and that is more then aggravating.  I spent a lot of time trying to find what I considered the perfect background and pictures for my site and now, in my eyes, it just looks blah.  The site is on Superstitions of all kinds and the look of red silk is just so much more sensuous the a plain red background.  Softly burning pale yellow candles creates an aura that a plain pale yellow background cannot.

(sigh)  I don't know if I will continue with it or just let it rest on my hard drive a few years more.  I spent several years collecting the superstitions with the intent of writing a book.  Maybe one day.

Will "Dog" Chapman have changed?
At last the Bounty Hunter is returning to the screen and Dog will once again be leading the pack.  But will it be the same Dog?  He has gone through more in the past year then the average person does in a lifetime.  Mexico.  Jail.  His daughter's death.  Wedding.  Beth's father's death.  And of course Tucker's tape and A&E's temporary
cancellation of his show.  And his public crawl for  forgiveness.  Given all these thing can he possibly still be the smiling, charmingly arrogant person that he was before?

I love Dog and the dog pack but I worry for his mental, physical and emotional health.  Will he now have to be on guard with every word he says, even in his own home?  Will he be able to trust anyone except the members of the pack?  Will he even have to watch his step when apprehending black bail jumpers?

I am glad he has his Beth, his children, and his crew for support.  He will probably need them more now then ever before.

I don't have any answers, only questions.  Dog, I hope you are well and that, once you are on the air again, you will be the same loveable rogue you have always been.

Good Luck

Christopher Strikes

Christopher is my 5 year old grandson who lives with me.  I often play games on the computer and Chris learned, by the age of 3,that he could play many of them too.  They are not the all involving games like World of Warcraft but the fun games usually from Big Fish or Real Arcade.

A while ago he learned how to download programs from these companies.  No big deal since they were the "try free for one hour" games.  But was that enough for him?     Noooooooooooooo!  Yesterday he almost, almost but not quite, figured out how to buy a game.  I needed this like another hole in my head.  He got as far as having to enter my username and got stopped.   You see, he does not even know his alphabet yet let alone how to read.  But he tried.  Oh how he tried.

Got to give him credit though.  I know people my age who don't even know how to turn a computer on let alone how to use one.  Give him another couple of years and he may control the world.

Haunted Family/Haunted House

"The ghosts are moving tonight, restless... hungry."  These are the opening lines of the 1959 movie classic The House on Haunted Hill.  This is the way it as been for several weeks now.  They are not necessarily hungry here.....in his house...with this family but they are very, very restless.  Perhaps I should explain.

I am the matriarch of a family who have been psychic for generations.  I know that everyone is psychic to a degree but, with us, it seems to be an overly
developed, though not controllable, talent.  We tend to check with each other when things out of the ordinary begin to happen and, usually, we agree with
each other even though we are in different states. We a
gree, but to different degrees.  I really wish they would give us inning lottery numbers instead of just moving furniture on a second floor that has no furniture.

But, as I said, they have been very restless of late.  The ones who seem to be acting up the most at this time are ones called Shadow People, a term I learned
from the old Art Bell show. I had seen them for years but never had an "official" name for them. These are images you see from the corner of your eye but can never, really get a good look at...at least not usually.

Of late they seem to be coming from behind me somewhere as I sit at the computer and out my bedroom door.  They go down the hall, and into the next room.  Not just the occasional one or two, that happens all the time, but steady stream of "people".  Of course, when I go into the other room,  there is
no one and nothing out of the ordinary there but both dogs are barking excitedly.

I don't know what they want....yet...but I am sure they will let me know.

Right now all is still.  That is probably because I had so many dreams last night.  Short dreams.  Almost vignettes.  Dreams that seem to have a theme, but a theme I don't understand.   Dreams finally drove me from my sleep and onto the computer.

I will try to go back to sleep but I have a feeling the dreams will be back.  And the dreams, although not frightening, have not left a good feeling about them
behind.

I need sleep.

Good night.

Who Am I?

I am exactly what my name says, a crabby old lady.  Well, not always crabby, I do have to sleep sometimes.  I have a strange sense of humor, enjoy people and am almost a hermit.  Paradox?  What do you expect, I am a gemini.

I  have kids, grandkids, and very little hair left.  I am opening a web page on Superstitions and Folklore and I am going to begin selling books on Half.com.  They are mostly science fiction but I also read Koontz (love his writing but I wish he would finish the Snow books sometime before I die), Patterson, Lillian Braum and her The Cat Who series, true crime, adventure and horror.  Movies are usually old timers who are just like visiting old friends.  Old, by the way, can mean anything from three years ago to, very occasionally, silent films.  I love comedies that make me laugh, not cringe.  Horror movies, adventure, and whatever I happen to be in the mood for.  (whoops, dangled a preposition, got to watch that) I will not watch slasher movies.  I want to be scared not have an upset stomach from the gore.

If you want to know anything else just ask.  I may not answer you (or give you a straight answer) but you can ask.

PS,  Re sense of humor: In high school I was called into the principals office because parents were calling her.  Seems I scared their little darling by convincing them I was from Venus  (never did care for Mars much).  Ah, those were the days.
